Seimeido Wado Ryu Karate Jutsu is a Martial Arts School in the town of Rugeley, Staffordshire in the West Midlands.

We are committed to offer the highest teaching standard possible and to teach karate as a martial art and not a sport.

It is not enough for students to simply learn the mechanics of a technique and only learn theory. Students are tested on their ability to demonstrate karate in a very practical context. Applying what they have learnt as they focus upon the core principals of the system. It is in the Understanding of karate where a student's ability will flourish and they can therefore progress to the highest level.

Classes are open to anyone and for what ever reason. Whether it be for fitness, to learn an entirely new art, to compliment or expand from a previous martial art. For fun or discipline, confidence or self-defence or even to find yourself in ways you may never have dreamt. You can make it what you want, achieve what you desire and join a strong family of martial artists all over the globe. We teach students from all around the local area, including, Rugeley, Cannock, Stafford, Lichfield, Stoke-on-Trent, Stone, Brereton even as far as Derby and Dudley. Many of our students also come from the surrounding villages including, Little Haywood, Great Haywood, Armitage, Handsacre, Hill Ridware, Hamstall Ridware, Colton, Colwich, Tixall, Hixon and Weston . This makes us a fantastic family of local students, right in the heart of Staffordshire.

The Syllabus is, in its essence, traditional Wado Ryu Karate Syllabus however no structure is perfect and so the syllabus has been expanded upon to include far greater pair-work and Ippon. Kihon Waza (Basic techniques) are not just practiced in mid-air but against an opponent to much better prepare a student for a real situation should it ever arise. Strikes (Atemi), blocks (Uke), kicks (Keri), Take-downs (Taioshi), throws (Nage/Otoshi), chokes and strangles (Shime), and ground fighting (Ne) techniques (waza) are all instructed through-out the syllabus so that no matter self-defence situations a student is confronted with they are given the tools to deal with it in the most effective and efficient way.

The addition of traditional methods of training has been introduced as well as the complexity of the Karate system studied into endless detail. At higher levels basic introductions to weaponry is also included. This is all so that students grow and develop in more ways to truly understand karate.
